Gmail integration

Connect your Gmail account to automatically triage client emails into your Inbound pipeline. Field reads labeled emails, matches them to clients, and surfaces them alongside scan findings and uptime alerts — so everything lands in one place.

What it does

Gmail integration pulls emails from your inbox into Field's Inbound pipeline based on labels you define. Each email becomes a signal — triaged, matched to a client, and ready for you to act on. If you have an AI key configured, Field generates a Signal summary for each email. Without AI, Field uses deterministic assessment — extracting subject, sender, and client match without a language model.

How to connect

Go to Integrations and find the Gmail card. Click Connect Gmail. Field uses OAuth — you'll be redirected to Google to authorize access. Field requests read-only access to your email and the ability to manage labels.

No passwords are stored. The OAuth token is scoped to your Gmail account and can be revoked at any time from Google's security settings or from the Integrations page in Field.

Label-based triage

After connecting, configure which Gmail labels Field should watch. When an email receives one of those labels — either manually or via a Gmail filter — Field pulls it into Inbound.

Example setup: Create a Gmail label called Field. Set up a Gmail filter that auto-labels emails from your client domains. Any email that gets the label flows into Field automatically.

You control which emails Field sees. Only labeled emails are read — Field never scans your entire inbox.

How emails appear in Inbound

Each labeled email appears as an Inbound signal with:

  • • Subject line and sender
  • • Matched client (if the sender's email matches a client profile)
  • AI Signal summary — a short assessment of what the email is about and suggested next steps (requires AI key)
  • Deterministic assessment — sender, subject, client match, and read/unread status (always available, no AI needed)

From Inbound, you can triage the email into your work queue, dismiss it, or leave it for later.

Client matching

Field matches incoming emails to clients by email address. When a client's profile includes their email, any email from that address is automatically associated with them. Unmatched emails still appear in Inbound — they just won't have a client link.

Privacy

Field acts as a data processor for your email data. Email content is read for triage purposes and passed to your AI provider (if configured) for summary generation. Field does not store full email bodies long-term — it stores the metadata, client association, and AI-generated summary.

Only emails you label are accessed. You can review and revoke access at any time.

Disconnecting

To disconnect Gmail, go to Integrations and click Disconnect on the Gmail card. This revokes Field's OAuth token. Existing Inbound signals from email are preserved, but no new emails will be pulled in. You can also revoke access from your Google account's security settings.
